so after a bit of thought, i have decided to combine the photo-blog and personal blog. really, they are one and the same: i hope to document the stories of people i know and love (or come to know and love!) and at the same time share my stories with them. so from now on, the “photo-blog” will be kept up on the Saou Saga.
because really– who has time for 2 blogs??
this past saturday, i was so privileged to get to assist a hope town wedding! here are a few highlights.

“Do you want to come take some pictures?”
My immediate response to that question is an emphatic “YES!” regardless of who’s asking! This time, I’m sitting in the coffee house and i hear my favorite question. I come to find out that the asker is none other than Perry Petry, fantastic artist! He creates sculptures from what ordinary people believe to be just dry wood. Seeing a tree stump, he remarks:
“I see there two dolphins, and they’re emerging out of the waves over here…” He doesn’t see a stump– he sees beauty just waiting to escape from the grain! So it was to my great delight that I was able to photograph 8 new pieces of his work. The session went so well and was so much fun that we are hoping to have a start-to-finish series of one of his pieces in the future.
His work is fantastic, i wish he had a website i could link you to. But on another note…
Lesson of the day: go to the Hope Town Coffee House! You never know all the great things that can happen to you there.
